Graffica continues support to SESAR

Throughout 2011, Graffica supported EUROCONTROL and the SESAR program in providing ITWP software development and simulation support for SESAR WP6.7 and WP6.9. The results of these simulations are due to be published early in 2012 and will provide input to the activities of WP12.
ITWP (Integrated Tower Working Position) is EUROCONTROL's research project which provides a platform for:
- evaluating standard interface elements
- evaluating information display strategies, and
- researching the effects of new ATC systems in an integrated work position.
The ITWP platform also allows third party software and technologies to be connected, supporting the testing of external algorithms (for example ground routing calculations) and integrating control systems (cockpit simulators). The modular nature of ITWP makes it ideal for supporting the SESAR program, by providing an environment where algorithms and support systems developed for SESAR in isolation can be tested in a semi-realistic environment.
SESAR (Single European Sky ATM Research) programme is the technological and operational dimension of the Single European Sky (SES) initiative. The SES initiative aims to restructure the currently fragmented airspace above Europe to improve the efficiency and safety of air traffic flows while at the same time increasing capacity.
