Graffica has been hard at work developing the ITWP platform in support of SESAR WP6.7, culminating in the “ROUTE 67” validation exercises held at the Airbus site in Toulouse during April 2012.
ITWP is increasingly required to support communications with external simulators and systems, and its modular architecture and open interfaces make it ideal for this purpose. New for “ROUTE 67” was the capability to connect with the Surface Routing Server provided by Indra-NAVIA AS, allowing ITWP to utilise its route calculation services to support ITWP’s routing and planning features.
The other key component of the “ROUTE 67” validation was the use of Airbus’ MOSART cockpit simulator. ITWP uses the GAIA/SVS connector to allow the Airbus cockpit simulator to be seamlessly included in the validation exercises and allowing Controller-Pilot Datalink Communication (CPDLC) messages to be passed between the cockpit systems and the airport controller positions.
